UIC Technical Services, Bowhead to open Las Vegas office by Chris Sieroty, Las Vegas Review-Journal
Las Vegas, NV – July 3, 2013 – UIC Technical Services LLC and its Bowhead subsidiary will move some of their government services operations to a new Western regional office in Las Vegas, a company spokesman said.
The office will open July 15 with a staff of 20. Kelvin Martinez, senior marketing and communications manager with Bowhead in Alexandria, Va., expects that number to grow to more than 100 employees over the next five years.
“We chose Las Vegas in order to better position ourselves in the western U.S. to capture local and regional business opportunities and … more readily handle operations within the U.S. and internationally,” Martinez said in a email.
The Las Vegas office is at 777 N. Rainbow Blvd., just south of West Washington Avenue.
Bowhead will provide program management support for the Nevada Autonomous Systems Institute (NvASI). NvASI, a nonprofit organization, works to promote and develop the unmanned systems industry in Nevada.
Martinez said that while most of the company’s efforts will be focused on business opportunities in the Western states, the Las Vegas office will have a national and even international reach.
Formerly known as Bowhead Technical and Professional Services, the company offers IT, engineering support, program and project management, warehousing and logistics, and applied and basic research.
Martinez would not disclose costs associated with opening the Las Vegas office.
“We found that the cost of setting up an office in Las Vegas was very economical, especially in comparison to other locations we considered,” he said. “We considered areas around San Diego, Salt Lake City and Albuquerque, along with Las Vegas.”
Michael Bradshaw, president of the UIC Technical Services subsidiary Bowhead Systems and Technology Group, has been appointed to Nevada’s Workforce and Investment Board. He is working with the Nevada Aerospace and Defense Sector Council to expand the aerospace and defense industry statewide.
Founded in 1999, UIC Technical Services employs 1,174 people and posted revenues of $154.3 million in 2011, a company profile on Inc.com says.
