The Manufacturing and Products (M&P) Group in Plano, TX recently completed an intense, week-long Quality Management System (QMS) Audit and met all requirements for AS9100 recertification. The QMS audit is an independent assessment conducted by an external auditor examining Bowhead’s QMS, procedures, and policies for effectiveness to determine if they meet the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry. The audit also determines if Bowhead’s mission-critical systems and components meet customer expectations, as well as warfighter demands. The audit covered everything from the Sales Core Process and Staff Training to Production Materials Management. This recertification, which included all seven Bowhead companies with contracts being executed by the M&P Group, also added Design and Development as a core process to the recertification. This will effectively open doors to opportunities that were previously closed.

The successful completion of the QA audit is the direct result of months of preparation and training conducted by the M&P quality team. This effort was led by Julia Rusmanica, the current Quality Assurance Manager, and John Jennings, the M&P Quality Assurance Manager emeritus. This was the perfect opportunity to transition Quality Managers. John’s extensive knowledge of M&P process and experience in manufacturing quality helped with both audit preparation and response to audit questions; after successfully completing the audit, John turned the reins over to Julia. The entire M&P team would like to thank John for his hard work and dedication as he prepares for retirement at the end of the year.
