Bowhead Employee Receives Congressional Recognition

One of Bowhead’s Ammunition Subject Matter Experts, Mr. Lou Hearrell (left), was recognized in a ceremony conducted by Congressman Rob Whitman (center), who thanked both of these veterans for their service during the Vietnam War along with their continued support to our Country’s military.

Mr. Hearrell is a key member of Bowhead’s team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare, Dahlgren Division in King George, Virginia. His specialty is ensuring the safety and delivery of ammunition to support test and evaluation activities across the Globe. “We certainly thank Mr. Hearrell and all our veterans for their service and sacrifices,” said Mike Hundley, Vice President of Operations for Bowhead’s Engineering & Information Technology (E&IT) Group. “Their expertise and commitment to our customers and country deserve recognition.”

The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 formally established the National Vietnam War Veteran Day to be celebrated each year on March 29th.  Authorized by Congress, established under the Secretary of Defense, and launched by President Obama on May 25, 2012, the Vietnam War Commemoration recognizes all men and women who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. Nine million Americans, approximately 6.4 million living today, served during that period, and the commemoration makes no distinction between veterans who served in-county, in-theater, or were stationed elsewhere during those 20 years. All answered the call of duty. The proclamation extends the commemoration from its inaugural event on Memorial Day 2012 through Veterans Day 2025.
