On March 1, 2021, the Bowhead team in Charleston, SC relocated the office on Lacross Road to 1362 McMillan Avenue. Although the move was only three and a half miles, it offers substantial advantages over the previous location. The new facility is located directly across the street from our Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic customers in the heart of the former Charleston Naval Shipyard.

1362 McMillan Ave / Charleston, SC 29405
The Charleston Naval Shipyard began operations in 1901, building the destroyer USS Tilman (DD-135), and going on to build a total of 20 additional destroyers. In 1996, the Shipyard ceased operations as a result of the 1993 Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) and many buildings fell into disrepair. Since that time, rebuilding and re-purposing has taken place in the area, and the new Bowhead office is on the site of the former Storehouse 11 building. The current 17,544 sq. ft. structure was built in 1993, and the Bowhead offices will occupy 5,080 sq. ft. of space.
With outstanding efforts from our Facilities Director, Chris Monetta, the new lease includes a complete remodel of the office space. Additionally, the Bowhead IT team performed a network upgrade and accomplished the first full Software-defined Wide Area Network (SD WAN) deployment within Bowhead. SD-WAN has higher capacity bandwidth, centralized management, network visibility, and multiple connection types. These factors provide for better quality, resiliency, and lower cost than the Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) connection used in the past.
With the new state-of-the art facility up and running, and our Bowhead customers within walking distance, the Charleston Division is positioned for substantial growth in 2021 and beyond.
